Welcome to the City of Port Lavaca’s new Lawn Library rentals program. We now have many different types of tools available to rent / check out for your convenience.
How Does the Lawn Library Work?
The Lawn Library serves the city of Port Lavaca residents by providing access to tools and equipment needed to mow grass, trim vegetation and clean-up litter to improve properties and the overall attractiveness of our neighborhoods. The equipment is available at no cost and available by reservation.
Step 1
Go to City Hall and visit the Building Department front counter to complete the membership forms or download them here and email to buildingdepartment@portlavaca.org.

Step 2
Once you receive your membership number visit our lawn library website https://twice.shop/lawnlibrary/shop and add the items you are wanting to borrow to your cart. Then, you will enter the dates you want the items and the time you are available to pick up the items. Once you have completed the check-out process, you will receive an order confirmation email. Or, if you don’t have the ability to use the website, call 361-552-9793 x232 or x241 to reserve.
Step 3
Once your request has been confirmed, please print your order confirmation and take it with you to the pick-up location where a member from Development Services will be there to unlock the trailer.
Additional Information
Tools may be borrowed for up to 3 days unless other arrangements have been made in advance.
These tools can be heavy and will need plenty of space to be transported safely in your vehicle. It may be necessary to use a truck to transport. We also suggest you bring a friend to help you lift and secure the item(s) in your vehicle.
Please utilize all safety equipment and follow all directions while operating any tool.
Gasoline-powered tools will be fully gassed before you borrow them. PLEASE DO NOT PLACE ANY GASOLINE OR FLUID IN THE TANKS. If more gasoline is required, please contact us and we will provide additional fuel to complete your project.
Tools borrowed from the Lawn Library are the sole property of the City of Port Lavaca and are for the intended personal use of residents of the City of Port Lavaca. Tools must be returned on time and in the same condition in which they were received. Any intentional misuse, failure to return, or intentional damage to property belonging to the City of Port Lavaca may result in fines and suspension of further use of the Lawn Library.
