Attention Bird Lovers:

Birding has never been better in Calhoun County. It is a migratory flyway for 400 species of birds, and the area is a wintering ground for numerous species, including the endangered Whooping Crane. The county boasts eight birding sites on the Great Texas Coastal Birding Trail. For seven consecutive years, more bird species have been recorded in Calhoun County than any other county in the nation during the North America Migratory Count. The count is conducted annually in May.
