Burning within the City of Port Lavaca is prohibited per city ordinance. Burning in Calhoun County is permitted as long as the safety criteria is met. All controlled burns must be conducted during daylight hours and extinguished before dark. The Sheriff’s office must be contacted prior to burning, and notified once the fire is out.
